Dumortierite is a fascinating stone, sporting a blue hue that evokes the aquatic depths and their shimmering sparkles. Sometimes it can display shades of deep purple, and it is not uncommon to see it in brown or pink, although its signature color remains blue.

Although its relative opacity does not allow it to achieve the status of a precious stone, its robustness and its vibrant colors more than compensate for this lack of perceived value. This stone belongs to the category of fibrous minerals.

Dumortierite often occurs as crystals, which may be transparent or, at other times, translucent.

In its natural state, this stone takes a cylindrical shape with almost total opacity. To unearth this natural wonder, it is advisable to dig in metamorphic rocks rich in aluminum.

Deposits are mainly located in France, but they can also be found in South Africa, Brazil, Canada, the United States, Madagascar and Poland.
