Green Fluorite - Raw Stone

The term Fluorite comes from the Latin root "fluo", meaning "flux", because of its relatively low melting point, making it an essential melting flux. This mineral also gave its name to the element it contains, fluorine, and Green Fluorite is particularly rich in fluorine. In 1952, it was the origin of a remarkable phenomenon observed in various minerals: fluorescence.

Fluorite is found in many deposits around the world. Some of the most famous are those at Khandahar in Afghanistan, Rogerley in England, and those in China. In France, Valzergues and Haute-Savoie are also notable sites. Other deposits are located in Spain, Bihar in India, and in the United States, notably in Illinois, New Hampshire, and Tennessee.
