Description
Description
The term "lapis lazuli" originates from the Latin word "lapis", meaning stone, and the Arabic word "azul", which means the color blue. This beautiful stone is composed of 25 to 40% lazurite, accompanied by various minerals such as sodalite, hauyne, calcite and pyrite, which play a crucial role in the variation of its color and luster. Due to this heterogeneous composition, lapis lazuli is classified as a rock rather than a simple mineral.
