Description
Description
Peristerite is a fascinating stone belonging to the feldspar family, known for its captivating iridescence. It can also exhibit adularescence, an internal glow reminiscent of the famous moonstone. Although this stone is primarily associated with Canada, it is just as remarkable as labradorite. Peristerite is not particularly rare, but it is found less frequently than labradorite.
A trade name used for peristerite is "belomorite", which refers to Russian Peristerites from the White Sea region, known as Beloe More in Russian.
Peristerite is valued for its iridescence and adularescence, earning it the nicknames “moonstone” and “albite moonstone.”

Possible counterfeits
Peristerite is often confused with white labradorite. Labradorite and Peristerite have striking similarities, but the iridescence of peristerite, often referred to as peristerescence, is distinguished by its finesse. Indeed, its lighter shades give it a delicacy not found in the more intense and pronounced labradorescence of labradorite.
It can also be confused with moonstone. Technically, Peristerite could be called moonstone because “moonstone” is a trade name for feldspars with adularescence (a milky internal glow). But Peristerite does have a blueish sheen, unlike moonstone.
