Seraphinite, often referred to as Serafine or Serafinite, is an exceptionally rare variety of clinochlore, a hydrous silicate of aluminum, iron, and magnesium. This mineral occurs both in massive formation and in botryoidal form, with a monoclinic crystal system characterized by uneven sides. Its rough form reveals remarkable chatoyancy, and when polished, it reveals a dazzling luster. Typically, Seraphinite has a very dark green hue, reminiscent of an intense emerald or even a black shade. This mineral was discovered by the famous Russian mineralogist Nikolay Koksharov, who named it after the group of biblical angels known as the "Seraphim."

It is important to note that Seraphinite is known from only one locality in the world, namely the Korshunovskoye iron deposit, located in the Irkutsk region of Russia.
