Thulite - Raw Stone

Thulite, often referred to as Rosaline, is a fascinating mineral composed of calcium aluminium silicate, occurring as large masses or small prismatic crystals. Belonging to the Zoisite family, it is one of the most strikingly pink minerals our planet has to offer. Its pink hue, due to manganese inclusions, can also manifest itself in white and grey shades. Interestingly, the more intense the colour, the higher the manganese concentration, making it a mineral of considerable value. Thulite was discovered in 1820, when H. J. Brooke found it in Telemark, Norway. He chose to name it after the mythical ancient island of “Thule”, which many believe to be located north of continental Europe.

Since its discovery in Norway, Thulite deposits have been identified in various countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Japan and Australia.
